People apparently struggle to understand this question.
It might be instructive to make a parallel to cosmology.
At first, we thought the Earth was the center of the universe.
Then we thought the Sun was the center of the universe.
Now we think that every single point in space is the center of the universe.
Just so:
At first, someone might think they are the center of the universe, and other things aren’t.
Then, they think something else is the center of the universe, and they aren’t.
Then, they realize they are the center of the universe, and so is everything else.
…that’s it.
One quick side note. I don’t actually buy that people think they’re the center of the universe. That just doesn’t make any sense.
I have eyes, and this is how things look to me:
My perception of the world is like a fishbowl. “I” am at the back of the fishbowl. Whatever object is currently at the center of my attention is the center of the universe.
Surely everyone sees things this way…… right?
